Nelson Yee, Drums
Biography
Nelson Yee started drumming at the age of 10. He quickly excelled during his early years, never relinquishing his 1st Seat in school bands, and graduated with an Outstanding Musician Award. He continues to this day to perfect and hone his immense talent as a varied and refined drummer.
Nelson started his performing career with the band, Chimera, and followed with the bands, Love and Brotherhood, TBR, Special Request, Cordial, Curtis Lawson and 3rd Street Blues Band, and then Rendezvous. He also fills in with other notable Bay Area and Northern California bands.
Nelson has many notable performances including opening for Dion Warwick, and also for Richard Pryor, at the SF Soul Train Club, when he (Mr. Pryor) was recording one of his comedy albums. At the age of 16, Nelson performed on the second half of the Jay Payton show on Channel 20, and also another half with El Grito alongside Sheila E on drums. Nelson has also played in Nora Anore's band at the El Dorado Casino in Reno.
Nelson is a self-professed, home-grown San Francisco boy who loves to make life as good as can be, with three beautiful people in his life, his wife, daughter and son.
